Glendale
Youth Alliance
Glendale community
leaders established the Glendale Youth Alliance (GYA) in 1994 to provide
job seeking
skills and employment preparedness training for Glendale's low-income
youth ages 14-24. We operate five
programs on a spectrum that provide mentored employment to youth. These
range from a program that gives subsidized jobs to the youngest youth
who have never held a job, to a program for older youth who are ready
to secure unsubsidized employment. Since 1994, we have provided jobs to
over 4,000 youth, and we provide jobs
for over 300 youth each year.
Community members can support our programs in several ways. You can make
a donation, hire a youth for
work in your business, hire a team of youth to clear the brush from your
hillside, or hire the youth to perform
your ongoing yard maintenance.
