Hire a Youth - Glendale Youth Alliance

You can help prepare our youth for the future by hiring them! Below are the three programs through which you can hire youth.


Hillside Brush Clearance, Ongoing Landscaping and Yard Maintenance, and General Labor Tasks (GYEP Program)

Many Glendale property owners own hillside property, and annually they are required to clear the brush away from any structure on the property. If you live in or are immediately adjacent to Glendale, the Glendale Youth Alliance can provide you with a team of youth workers to perform this task. First, call (818) 548-3727 and make an appointment for an estimate. Staff member Alfred Garciga will come to your property, evaluate the job, and give you an estimate. If you accept the estimate, a team of Youth Workers, supervised by an adult Team Supervisor, will perform the work using our tools, and haul away the debris in our vehicles. You can also rest assured knowing that the workers are insured for liability and workers compensation.

The youth in the GYEP Program can also provide you with ongoing landscaping and yard maintenance. Call (818) 548-3727 for an estimate.

In addition, the youth can provide event or party set up and clean up, packing in preparation for moving (due to insurance requirements, we cannot move you) and any other general labor tasks. Call (818) 548-3727 for an estimate.


 
Glendale's Resource for Employment and Training (GREAT) Youth Employment Service

Instead of using a traditional employment agency, you can use the GREAT Youth Employment Service, meet the needs of your business, and help youth ages 16-21 gain work experience. This program is beneficial to employers for several reasons. You may have a need for temporary staff, or you may want to try out a youth before hiring them on as a regular employee. This program is operated in conjunction with the City of Glendale, and youth employees are on the City's payroll, which provides them with workers compensation insurance. Our rates are lower than what you would pay a traditional employment agency, and the youth are pre-screened. Youth can do the following types of jobs: administrative assistant, computer specialist assistant, receptionist/clerical, banquet staff, and light industrial. Some of our satisfied customers are Southern California Radiology, Trinity Worldwide Reprographics, It's Alive Co., the Glendale Police Department, the City of Glendale, and the City of South Pasadena.

Glendale Works

If your business is willing to pay half of the hourly wage for an employee ages 18-21, this program will pay the other half for up to 250 hours. Workers can perform most entry-level jobs. To hire a youth through this program, contact Mario Olmos at (818) 409-0476, ext. 7307.
